By the end of 2013, all of Atlantic City’s casinos had opened an online casino. The law allowed for online casinos to earn licenses as long as they partnered with existing NJ land-based casinos.
Eventually, the law assigned a 15% tax rate to all online gaming revenues. The efforts began as early as 2010, but arguments over the tax rates delayed the process. New Jersey lawmakers successfully legalized online gambling in 2013 with the passing of bill A2578/S1565.
